Social VR Art Camp

VR Art Camp is a 3 month-long social VR residency for womxn and underrepresented artists to explore digital belonging and the possibilities of creating and inhabiting a virtual communal place with care. VR Art Camp is a bridge for those, whose practice is not rooted in digital media and for a diverse community with different voices and approaches, as it is accessible both on a browser and in virtual reality.

The organically growing, feminine social VR art residency program accumulates in public Show & Tell events, when artists guide visitors through their VR studio spaces. The experience of being the part of an art piece together with the artists generates new kinds of “studio visit” discussions. Our mission is to co-create educational social VR events, learning together how to use this layer of our social fabric based on radical inclusion, cyber-intentionality and to elevate the shift of our upscaling digital existence.

VR Art Camp connects various realms: it helps artists to translate their (mainly not digital) art practices into social VR and thus, gain an easily accessible online meeting platform to show their work in an international setting, focused on the Bay Area and Central Europe. Our in person gatherings balance moving in-between on- and offline spaces. IRL Art Camp camping facilitates the integration and exchange of the impact of our digitally lived experiences.
